One of the question every blogger faces in early stages is, should I use WordPress or Blogger.
WordPress.com has an impressive dashboard but is not friendly in adding scripts or themes. And WordPress.com does not have support for Google AdSense, way to make some extra money 😉
Blogger on other hand has a simple dashboard but it provides the capability to add scripts. It goes without saying that Blogger being a Google application has extensive support for Google AdSense.
So if you started with WordPress.com and now want to move to Blogger (for some reasons ;)), there is a way for that. Below are the steps:
1) Export all WordPress.com content using Tools –> Export utility into an xml file. A wordpress.yyyy-mm-dd.xml file will be saved in your Downloads directory.
2) WordPress XML file from above step needs to converted into a format that Blogger understands. You can use WordPress2Blogger conversion utility for the same. You will have to browse to the location of your WordPress XML file and push the “Convert” Button. This action would produce a blogger-export.xml file and save it in your Downloads folder.
3) blogger-xml file created in above step should be imported into Blogger from Settings –> Import Blog button. Please see below screenshots.
After following above 3 steps, all your WordPress.com posts will appear in Blogger. Please be aware that it is not advisable to duplicate content across 2 blogs. Search giants like Google will give half points to both blogs instead of giving full points to 1.
